Homeward Bound in 2020
I think we can all agree that the year 2020 will be one for the history books, and will always be remembered! In the midst of COVID19, so many have found themselves jobless, laid off, working from home (in some cases, for the first time), working the front lines for the sick, or even dealing with illness in yourself or your loved ones. Whatever your circumstances, it’s certain to forever change our future, in so many ways. In the meantime, I thought I would list a few thoughts or suggestions to help fill your time while you’re sheltering in place (in no particular order);
Get Organized; When was the last time you organized your closets, or cleared out the extra clutter? Take some time to get rid of things you no longer wear, need, or use. Though your local Goodwill or organization of your choice isn’t accepting donations at the moment, you can still set this aside to clear out when the time comes.
Get Fit; What better time to focus on your health! Not being able to go to your local gym is no excuse to stop working out. There are all sorts of motivating videos online to help you along the way. Schedule a time to do this, at least three times a week.
Spring Cleaning (inside); Not only are we spending extra time sanitizing, take the extra time for those areas that you may not clean every day – ceiling fans, baseboards, and wall hangings, just to name a few.
Family Time; Spend some extra time with the most important people in your life – your family. Play games, watch movies, cook or bake together, whatever brings you the most pleasure, do it!
Cooking or Baking; Have a recipe that you’ve been wanting to try? No excuses now….well, unless it calls for some weird random ingredients that you can’t find in your average store, but you get my drift! This is also a great time to focus on healthier eating. Don’t be afraid to try something new.
Outside Work; Yes, we live in Ohio and mother nature can’t seem to make up her mind, but Spring is officially here. When we get some nicer days, get out there and clear your gutters, clean up your landscaping and plant your favorite flowers. Have you considered trying your own herb or veggie garden? This can be quite rewarding as well. Just sayin’!
Help Others; Enough said with those two words, but what better time to utilize your time and any special skills. A co-worker is spending her spare time sewing masks for donating. A nurse friend of mine organized a collection for folks to donate cleaning goods and many other items for our local hospital. There are all sorts of local food drives that could always use the extra help, or even donations. Use your imagination!
No matter how you choose to spend your time, remember that we’re all in this together. Take care of yourself, and each other!
