“Are You Ready For Spring?!”

I think we all know the answer to that question! As much as I love the snow, I don’t particularly care for the cold or the bad driving conditions that come with our Ohio winter weather! Well March is finally upon us, and the first day of Spring is March 20th! Time to start preparing your Spring Cleaning ‘To Do’ list – here are some helpful tips:Change Outdoor Bulbs: During the winter months, our outdoor bulbs tend to work overtime! It’s never a bad idea to double check these and see if any of them could be replaced.
Clean Gutters: This may be the most important tip of all! On average, it’s best to clean your gutters at least twice a year. It’s a lot cheaper to keep them clear of debris, than to end up with some expensive repairs later!
Give Your Front Door Some ‘Love’: Time to clean it up a little! Wipe down your front door (even the back one) to remove the dirt and grime left from the winter. If you’re really in the mood for a change, give it a fresh coat of paint! For those who aren’t afraid of color, try a wine red, or a nice shade of blue.
Clean and Clear Outdoor Walkways: Winter can take a toll on your walkways. Give it a good cleaning by sweeping away all of the winter debris, and be sure to get down into the cracks as well. If you happen to have a power washer handy, spraying it off would be even better – just try to spray the water away from the house as much as possible.
Plant, Prune, Trim & Mulch: What better way to spruce up your home than to clean up your landscaping?! Planting some colorful flowers or shrubs not only smells nice, but also trimming your current bushes, and spreading some fresh mulch can really beautify your home as well.
Clean Your Porch: Using a little “elbow grease” on your porch is never a bad idea. Clear away any dirt or debris, get rid of the cob webs, repaint your posts, and get this area ready for a long overdue hangout! Cookout anyone?!
Freshen Up Outdoor Furniture: While you’re cleaning up the front porch, let’s not forget about the Outdoor furniture. Wipe these down with a damp cloth and be sure to clean underneath as well – you would be surprised at what you may find under there! Sometimes even a fresh coat of paint can really freshen these up.
Dust: You’re probably already dusting on a regular basis (or maybe not). Regardless of how many times a year you dust your home, I think that Spring time is one of the best times to really get into those hard to reach places. Your windows have probably been shut all winter long. So while you’re spreading that dust through the air, open up those windows and allow some fresh air to blow through.
Wash Your Windows: From fingerprints, dog slobber, dust and dirt, washing your windows both inside and out makes a huge difference. Not to mention it can really help to bring in more of that long overdue sunshine!
Whether you’re manning these tasks alone or have help, just remember that it doesn’t all have to be done in the same day. Allow yourself some time for relaxation along the way. When it’s all said and done, you can take a step back and feel great about what you’ve accomplished!
